Paula D’Ambrosio
has performed as the Rochester Community Chorus
Accompanist since its inception
in 1986. A
Rochester native, Paula began accompanying in the 7th grade and
has served in that capacity for numerous school, church, and community choral
groups, as well as vocal and instrumental soloists.
She obtained a B.A. from Albion College with a major in German, and a Master's Degree in Library Science (A.M.L.S.) from the University of Michigan, where she was a member of the University Choral Union. Paula spent her junior year in college studying at the University of Freiburg (Germany). While there, she sang and toured with the Freiburg Bach Chorale.
Following post-graduate studies at the University of Cincinnati, Paula was employed for over 30 years as a public and school librarian in Michigan and Ohio.
She was the accompanist for the Southern Michigan Youth Chorale's 1976 European concert tour and has been musical director/pianist for 16 Avon Players (Community Theater) musical productions. A 30-year member of the Rochester Tuesday Musicale, Paula has chaired its music scholarship committee for 16 years and is director/pianist for the Musical's vocal ensemble. Since retiring from her library position with the Utica (Michigan) Community Schools, Paula devotes the majority of her time to music, gardening, and her two cats. She also volunteers one morning a week in her church library.
